De genocide in Gaza gaat door. Volgens een nieuwe studie in The Lancet zou het dodental kunnen oplopen tot 186.000 of 8 procent van de bevolking. Een vergelijkbaar percentage van de Belgische bevolking zou 940.000 mensen zijn. In de Verenigde Staten zou het de dood van 26 miljoen mensen betekenen. Miljoenen mensen zijn ontheemd. Netanyahu beweert dat dit zal doorgaan tot in 2025 en dat de oorlog zich zelfs zou kunnen uitbreiden naar Libanon en Jemen.
Zonder de steun van westerse staten zoals de VS, Canada, Frankrijk en zelfs België zou deze brute campagne niet langer dan een dag kunnen duren. Inderdaad, het monster van het Israëlische imperialisme heeft zowat overal in het Westen handlangers. Europese regeringen, Belgische bedrijven, Belgische universiteiten en anderen zijn allemaal medeplichtig aan deze misdaad.
Al enkele maanden demonstreren miljoenen mensen tegen deze verschrikking. Maar tot nu toe hebben de machthebbers ons genegeerd.
Jongeren hebben instinctief begrepen dat wie niet horen wil, moet voelen! Met de campusbezettingen probeerden studenten over de hele wereld een einde te maken aan de medeplichtigheid van universiteiten aan de misdaden van het Israëlische imperialisme.
De meeste kampementen en bezettingen zijn echter klein gebleven en hebben zich niet verder verspreid dan een kleine groep studenten. Hierdoor konden de universiteitsadministraties die onder één hoedje spelen met de staat, ze op de een of andere manier uiteenjagen - soms zelfs met wapenstokken en traangas.
Laten we de beweging naar de volgende fase tillen!
Steeds meer mensen doorzien de leugens van de zionisten. Overal ter wereld, en ook in België, verzetten grote aantallen jongeren zich tegen de acties van Israël in Gaza.
Dit najaar hebben we de kans om de beweging naar een hoger niveau te tillen. De campussen die in de lente/zomer bezet waren, zullen zeker opnieuw bezet zijn bij het begin van het nieuwe schooljaar. Velen zullen zich bewust zijn van het feit dat universiteiten nog steeds te nauw verbonden zijn met de Israëlische oorlogsmachine.
Laten we ons verenigen en staken voor Palestina!
Laten we deze herfst op de campussen een beweging opbouwen die zo krachtig is dat ze er niet meer omheen kunnen. Bestuurders van universiteiten konden ons negeren toen we ons kamp opsloegen op hun gazons of in hun gebouwen. Laat ze maar proberen ons te negeren als we de campussen helemaal sluiten!
Dit is een open oproep. We roepen alle studentenverenigingen en pro-Palestijnse groepen op campussen in het hele land op om samen een studentenstaking voor Palestina te organiseren.
Niet alle pro-Palestijnse groepen zijn het over alles eens. Maar onze verschillen zijn niets vergeleken met wat ons verenigt tegen de zionisten, de imperialisten en hun vrienden op de universiteiten. We zijn het er allemaal over eens dat er kracht is in getallen. Laten we er alles aan doen om de massa van studenten tot actie te bewegen.
Als Westerse studenten en arbeiders hebben we een vitale rol te spelen in de strijd tegen het imperialisme. Als we de campussen sluiten, zullen ze gedwongen worden naar ons te luisteren. Als we de beweging uitbreiden naar de arbeidersklasse, kunnen we de medeplichtigen van het imperialisme in hun winst treffen. En tot slot, als we de beweging over de grenzen heen uitbreiden, kunnen we de hele imperialistische wereld door elkaar schudden en de Israëlische oorlogsmachine stoppen!
Programma voor een studentenstaking
1 . Verenig je voor stakingsactie!
Bijna een jaar is voorbij en de genocide in Gaza gaat door. De Belgische regering en de EU zijn medeplichtig, Belgische bedrijven zijn medeplichtig en de universiteiten van het land zijn medeplichtig. Ze hebben bewezen dat ze niet luisteren tenzij wij hen dwingen te luisteren. Dit najaar roepen we alle studentenverenigingen en pro-Palestijnse groepen op om zich te verenigen en een studentenstaking te organiseren om de sluiting van de campussen af te dwingen.
2. Stop de steun aan de zionistische oorlogsmachine!
Alle instellingen van het Europese kapitalisme zijn medeplichtig aan de genocide op de Palestijnen. Belgische en Europese universiteiten investeren in bedrijven die banden hebben met het Israëlische leger en de nederzettingen. Maar dit is slechts een deel van het verhaal. Vanaf dag één heeft de Belgische regering zich te stevig achter Israël geschaard op economisch, politiek, diplomatiek en militair vlak. We strijden om een einde te maken aan alle steun voor de zionistische oorlogsmachine.
3. Maak een einde aan de onderdrukking van de Palestijnse beweging!
De heersende klasse van alle imperialistische landen, inclusief alle grote politieke partijen, hebben zich verenigd om de Palestijnse beweging zwart te maken, te belasteren en te onderdrukken. Valse beschuldigingen van antisemitisme, gecombineerd met arrestaties, boetes en disciplinaire straffen zijn opgelegd aan pro-Palestijnse activisten. We vechten voor de vrijheid om deze genocide aan de kaak te stellen en ertegen te protesteren. We zullen ons verzetten tegen alle maatregelen die worden genomen om ons het zwijgen op te leggen.
4. Stop de genocide!
De zionisten proberen af te maken waar ze 76 jaar geleden aan begonnen zijn. Ze hebben hun bedoelingen duidelijk gemaakt in woord en daad. Genocide is niet iets van lang geleden. Het gebeurt nu voor onze ogen. We vechten om de genocide te beëindigen en de Palestijnen te bevrijden.

The genocide in Gaza continues. According to a new study in The Lancet, the death toll could be as high as 186,000 or 8 percent of the population. A similar percentage of the Belgian population would be 940,000. In the United States, it would mean the deaths of 26 million people. Millions of people are displaced. Netanyahu claims that this will continue into 2025 and that the war could even spread to Lebanon and Yemen.
Without the support of Western states such as the USA, Canada, France and even Belgium, this brutal campaign could not last more than a day. Indeed, the monster of Israeli imperialism has accomplices just about everywhere in the West. European governments, Belgian companies, Belgian universities and others are all complicit in this crime.
For several months now, millions of people have been demonstrating against this horror. But until now, the powers that be have ignored us.
Young people have instinctively understood that if they don't listen, they must be made to listen ! With the encampment movement, students all over the world tried to put an end to the complicity of universities in the crimes of Israeli imperialism.
However, most encampments and occupations have remained small and have failed to spread beyond a small group of students. This allowed the university administrations, in cahoots with the state, to disperse them in one way or another - sometimes even with truncheons and tear gas.
Let's take the movement to the next stage!
More and more people are seeing through the lies of the Zionists. All over the world, and in Belgium too, large numbers of young people are opposing Israel's actions in Gaza.
This autumn, we have the opportunity to take the movement to the next level. The campuses occupied in the spring/summer will certainly be occupied again at the start of the new school year. Many will be mindful of the fact that universities are still too closely tied to the Israeli war machine.
Let's unite and strike for Palestine!
This autumn, let's build a movement on the campuses that is so powerful they won't be able to ignore it.
University administrations could ignore us when we camped out on their lawns or in buildings. Let them try to ignore us when we shut down the campuses entirely!
This is an open call. We call on all student unions and pro-Palestinian groups on campuses across the country to join together to organise a student strike for Palestine.
Not all pro-Palestinian groups agree on everything. However, our differences are nothing compared to what unites us against the Zionists, the imperialists and their friends in the universities. We all agree that there is strength in numbers. Let's do everything we can to get the mass of students to act.
As Western students and workers, we have a vital role to play in the struggle against imperialism. If we shut down the campuses, they will be forced to listen to us. If we extend the movement to the working class, we can hit imperialism's accomplices in their profits. Finally, if we extend the movement across borders, we can shake the whole imperialist world and stop the Israeli war machine!
Programme for a student strike
1 . Unite for strike action!
Almost a year has gone by and the genocide in Gaza continues. The Belgian government and the EU are complicit, Belgian companies are complicit and the country's universities are complicit. They have proved that they don't listen unless we make them listen. This autumn, we call on all student associations and pro-Palestinian groups to unite and organise a student strike to force the closure of the campuses.
2. End support for the Zionist war machine!
All the institutions of European capitalism are complicit in the genocide of the Palestinians. Belgian and European universities invest in companies associated with the Israeli army and settlements. But this is only part of the story. From day one, the Belgian government has been too firmly behind Israel economically, politically, diplomatically and militarily. We are fighting to end all support for the Zionist war machine.
3. Put an end to the repression of the Palestinian movement!
The ruling class of all imperialist countries, including all major political parties, have united to smear, slander and repress the Palestinian movement. False allegations of anti-Semitism, combined with arrests, fines and disciplinary sanctions have been imposed on pro-Palestinian activists. We are fighting for the freedom to denounce and protest against this genocide. We will fight all measures put in place to silence us.
4. Stop the genocide!
The Zionists are trying to finish what they started 76 years ago. They have made their intentions clear in word and deed. Genocide is not something that happened once long ago. It is happening right now before our very eyes. We are fighting to end the genocide and free the Palestinians.
